Every child deserves a carefree holiday, full of laughter, play and new friendships. But unfortunately, not everyone can afford it. Due to financial and social circumstances, many children do not have the opportunity to spend a few days by the sea.
That’s why, at Hostelling International Slovenia, we're running the “Children's Joy at the Sea” campaign to give children with fewer opportunities the chance to enjoy an unforgettable holiday at Debeli Rtič, in the youth spa and resort of the Slovenian Red Cross.
Our wish is simple – to give children a sense of freedom, the joy of swimming in the sea, playing on the beach, and making new friendships that last a lifetime.
There are four ways to support the campaign:
The first way is to donate part of your income tax. This costs you nothing, as it is an amount that would otherwise go to the government either way. But to the children, this means new experiences and an unforgettable holiday. You can read more about this option on our website.
Another way is to support the campaign with a donation. With your support, you'll receive a free membership card and a travel T-shirt to become part of our community of travellers who believe in the power of solidarity. You can donate simply through an online form.
The third way is connected to our international “Say HI for Peace” campaign. Every September, by purchasing a membership card, you can directly support the charity campaign, as the entire amount goes exclusively towards the children’s holidays at sea. You don’t need a membership card or a T-shirt, but you want to give children the chance to enjoy a holiday? Then the fourth way is right for you. Donate €5 quickly and easily by sending a text message to 1919 with the message VESELJE5. This option is available to users of the Slovenian mobile networks Telekom Slovenije, A1, Telemach, and T-2. Every contribution counts, whether it is part of your income tax, a donation, or a membership. With your help, even more children can see the sea for the first time, learn to swim, and enjoy carefree holidays they will carry in their hearts for a lifetime!
